Our Story

Hello I'm Sally

Here is a little bit about me and how this all got started….I can’t tell you where this will end up, but I'm excited for the adventure and looking forward to meeting you. So this is my story.

I am an Aussie. I’d describe myself as positive, go-getting, straight-talking, and an action-taker.

Pleased to meet you.

Another early story of entrepreneurship

Since I was 12, I was out selling something or other to make money - usually to buy sweets, then it was alcohol, and then a car and so on.

Since then, I have had a mix of side hustles and real businesses - from sex toys to jewellery, conference/event business, influencer and marketing agencies to COVID testing companies.

Some were great successes, some didn’t have enough funding to go any further, and others were just a flop, barely making it off the ground.

Lessons Learnt

I’ve learnt a lot of lessons, not just the practical realities of running a business but the real human ones. The ones nobody tells you about when you are deep in the foggy midst of growing your business: the loneliness, the identity fusion between you and your business, and the courage it takes to ask for help and share your truth.

These challenges eventually knock at most founders' doors in some form. When I was in the midst of it, I didn’t even know such things existed and thought it was all in my head - so I pushed on, and eventually I came face to face with these challenges which lead to - loss of business, loss of important family occasions, loss of relationship, loss of who I was - it wasn’t pretty and the the cost was high.

The realisation that there are founders out there who need this

I would have loved a bunch of like-minded people who understood what I was going through during that time, where you feel understood and know that the challenges you are facing are very real, personally and professionally. What happens personally impacts professionally, and what happens professionally impacts personally.

And just like that, No Sheep Allowed was born

To provide a full spectrum of business and brand services and adventures for founders by founders. Everything we do is about helping the founder and their business grow - healthily, happily- while reducing as much stress and frustration as possible.

The name has real meaning to us

What I love about the No Sheep Allowed name is that it was a name I had written in my journal 16 years ago. And it immediately jumped out at me.

The name was bold and inspiring; the vision I had was that when people enter our world, it would be like entering through a Portal - on the outside you see one reality, and on the inside you experience another.

(In the meantime, yes, I am completely inspired by Philippe Stark’s The Sanderson Hotel - this hotel makes me feel like I am moving between different realities rather than simply moving between floors. And this is exactly the feeling I want you to feel with us)

That is why the brand name on the outside has an exclusive and slightly rebellious tone; but when you are on the inside, it is highly inclusive, very intimate and all about the human experience.

Inspiring people to see you and join you

On the other side of the coin, I have spent my life helping businesses and brands drive more customers to their businesses- whether it be awareness, penetration or loyalty (that affects inside your business as much as outside it)- they are all sales at the very heart of it, just different titles and different approaches: communications, PR, events, strategy, branding, partnership, content, influencer, advertising.

To do well, you have to understand people, their behaviours, how they move and adapt in different circles, and how they are influenced by cultural factors and market conditions.

I confess there hasn’t been much saving lives going on, but there has been a whole lot of fun and reward in making millions of people’s lives more interesting.

I have seen people being moved along the proverbial pipeline by being inspired or encouraged to purchase because they believe the product or service helped their lives for the better, or made them feel good about themselves, entertained them or simply showed them healthier choices, easier ways to manage their lives, or simply saved them time.

And more of these things get to happen because of the remarkable founders who dare to bring an idea to life, have a vision and go for it - that is why we focus our efforts on helping as many founders as we can thrive.

For Founders by Founders

I hope this helps you understand me, how we came to be and why I/we are passionate about helping founders - no matter where they live in the world. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where this adventure leads us and you.

Now it’s time to start a real conversation; you have my number, dial it.

Thanks for reading.

With Love

Sally

What it means to be part of our herd

  • Don't blindly follow the prevailing behaviour
  • Don't make the safe decisions because everyone else does.
  • Don't dilute something brilliant until nobody can recognise the idea.
  • Don't let a great business become a watered-down version of itself.
  • Don't let the consensus make the ambition smaller.
  • Don't let a great business become a watered-down version of itself.
  • Don't keep doing things because that's how they've always been done.
